What sets Edgard & Cooper apart in the world of dog food and treats?
Well, firstly, Edgard & Cooper are a brand that prioritises both pet health and the planet. Known for their high-quality dog and cat food, they offer an extensive range of dry and wet options. But what we particularly admire is their commitment to sustainability.
Edgard & Cooper has a ‘Zero Pawprint Plan’ which outlines its environmental commitments for 2025, including becoming Zero Carbon and adopting fully sustainable packaging.
Moreover, through The Edgard & Cooper Foundation, Edgard & Cooper donates 1% of its profits to animal welfare causes across the globe.
This Zero Pawprint Plan coupled with the aim for fully sustainable packaging, their B Corp status (they are currently one of only five B Corp pet brands), their plant-based recipes and their tree planting Loyalty Scheme, all adds up to mean that we think they are one of the most sustainable pet food brands out there.
Oh, and there's the fact that you can order online and their food and treats are delivered right to your front door - now that's some serious convenience!
We adore the idea of hassle-free sustainable dog food, so we put Edgard & Cooper to the test ourselves.

Edgard & Cooper Dog Food & Treats Review
1. Dry Food Selection
The first thing to say is that Edgard & Cooper's dry food receives a solid nutritional rating of 64% on the independent Nutritional Site - All About Dog Food (AADF). This places them alongside well-respected brands like Wainwrights, James Wellbeloved, Lily's Kitchen, and Harringtons.
Their extensive selection of dry foods offers single source meat and fish proteins as well as combinations and plant-based options -
🐓 Free-Run Chicken
🐟 Norwegian Salmon
🐑 Grass-Fed Lamb
🦌 🦆 Venison & Free-Run Duck
🐄 🐓 Organic Beef & Free-Range Chicken
🦃 🐓 Organic Free-Range Turkey & Chicken
🦆🐓 Free-Run Duck & Chicken
🐟 🦃 Atlantic Salmon & Free-Range Turkey
🐓 🐟 Free-Run Chicken & Norwegian Salmon
🥕 Crispy Carrot & Courgette
🎃 Crunchy Beetroot & Pumpkin
Confused about free-run vs. free-range ? Free-run simply means the birds have the freedom to roam within their barn. Free-range birds have access to both the barn and the outdoors, allowing them to enjoy fresh air and sunshine (weather permitting). |
We love the addition of two plant-based recipes. These hypoallergenic options are packed with fresh vegetables and a blend of fruit, herbs and pulses formulated to provide all the nutrients your dog needs.
Clearly plant-based dog foods are a better environmentally friendly choice than meat-based dog foods. But you don't need to go completely veggie. Why not consider adding a 'meat free' day to your dog's diet ? You'll be adding variety whilst lowering their carbon pawprint !
Whatever recipe you choose, rest assured all Edgard & Cooper recipes are either grain-free or gluten-free, making them a safe and delicious choice for dogs with sensitivities.
In terms of pack sizes they offer one of the widest ranges of all the dog foods we've tested and reviewed -
⭐️ 700g (meat based only) regular kibble
⭐️ 1 kg (plant-based only) regular kibble
⭐️ 2.5kg regular kibble
⭐️ 2x 2.5kg regular kibble
⭐️ 7kg regular kibble
⭐️ 2 x7kg regular kibble
⭐️ 12kg large kibble
⭐️ 2 x 12kg large kibble
Edgard & Cooper understands that different dogs have different needs. That's why their largest bags (12kg and 2 x 12kg) are available with a larger kibble, ideal for bigger breeds and dogs who tend to swallow their food whole.
And if you're new to the brand, it's always a good idea to start small. We'd recommend grabbing a 700g or 1kg bag to see if it gets the paw of approval before going big. Nobody wants a huge bag of unwanted dog food!
2. Wet Food Selection
Generally, wet dog foods tend to be pricier than dried but they are extremely popular for a number of reasons;
Palatability : The aroma and taste of wet food are generally more enticing to dogs than dry kibble. This is especially beneficial for picky eaters or senior dogs with a decreased senses of smell and taste
Easier to Eat: The soft texture of wet food makes it easier to chew and swallow, which is crucial for puppies and senior dogs with dental issues.
Hydration: Wet food has a high moisture content, contributing to a dog's daily water intake. This is particularly important if you are worried your dog is not drinking enough.
So let's take a closer look at Edgard & Cooper's wet range.
Their wet food selection comes in various flavours, textures, and formats so we think it offers more variety for your dog and can make mealtimes more interesting. Nutritionally their wet range boasts an exceptionally high 79% – 90 % on AADF. So right up there at the top of the scale.
They offer two formats - tins and tiny trays (which Edgard & Cooper refer to as cups). Whilst similar in appearance, the tins boast a slightly higher meat content and the recipes are different.
Essentially we think that the smaller cups are ideal for tiny dogs and could help minimise food waste. These single-serve trays are super-convenient for portion control and easy serving.
Due to their cost, they're best suited for small and toy breeds; feeding a larger dog like a Labrador exclusively with these trays would be completely impractical.
On the other hand, we would recommend the tins or the trays as tasty toppers. Added to your dog's preferred dry food it would boost the nutritional value of the meal and make it more palatable for picky pups.
There's no shortage of recipes on offer, with a total of 7 tin and 11 smaller cup recipes to choose from plus a few wet Variety Packs which are perfect for picky pooches, allowing you to pinpoint your pup's preferences.
Which brings me neatly onto bundles. Edgard & Cooper offer a range of three money-saving bundles which include a selection of dry food, wet food and treats.
The Adult, Puppy and the Hypoallergenic Starter Bundle (shown here) all offer significant savings on buying the products separately.
Shipping's a breeze with free delivery on orders over £20. And once you're hooked, their Subscribe & Save scheme offers 5% OFF.
3. Dog Treat Range
You could always add something from their delightful array of dog treats to your order. From biscuits and bites to bars and brilliant dental sticks their extensive range has something for every dog.
Perfect for dogs and puppies with sensitive tummies, they're all grain free plus they're formulated with no added artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.
We'll fill you in as best we can on how strong they smell, size and texture. You can then judge for yourself which ones suit you and your four-legged friend best.
The first thing to say is that in testing we were pleased to find that none of the Edgard & Cooper treats had a particularly strong smell. While dogs love pungent aromas, we've all experienced those dog treats that are a bit too much for human noses!
We particularly liked the Strips which as the name suggests come in one piece and can be broken into several bite-sized pieces when training. Soft and crumbly there are 5 in a pack and are available in 4 meaty flavours.
The Bites are the smallest treat and are on the soft side. Whilst perfect for puppy training and small mouths, the downside is that they tend to crumble. Available in 6 flavours.
If you're looking for a crunchy treat then the Biscuits will fit the bill. Choose from 5 different flavours in boxes of 130 - perfect for that bedtime treat !
The Bars are larger treats available in four flavours. These could be given whole or broken into bite-sized pieces (they have a series of groves to help break them up). However, it's worth mentioning that the Apple & Blueberry Bar was simply too tough to break into pieces.
Lastly, the Doggy Dental sticks come in a pack of 7 and the star shape allow the teeth to grip easily and get into the smaller spaces between your dog's teeth. There are two flavours available - Crisp Apple & Eucalyptus Oil or Cool Mint Oil & Strawberry.
Not wanting to state the obvious, but it's important to choose a chew that is the right size for your dog. Edgard & Cooper offer a range of three sizes 8cm, 12cm and 13cm so you can select the best size for your dog.
Our Verdict
In a market full of dog food brands, Edgard & Cooper truly stands out for its ethical and sustainable approach. But it's not just about their values, their high-quality food and treats are impressive in their own right.
Their dry range has considerably more recipes than a lot of other dog food brands we've tested and we particularly like the idea of being able to add a plant-based dry food into your weekly mix.
Their wet food cups are a standout product for small dogs as they can help with portion control and reduce wastage.
We loved the wide selection of treats and the ease with which they broke into bite-sized pieces for training or alternatively offered whole 'just because'.
With two kibble sizes, three dental stick sizes, two wet food formats, fourteen wet food recipes, and eleven dry food recipes, Edgard & Cooper offers exceptional flexibility for creating a customised diet to suit your dog.
